The North Carolina Study Center is currently funded to conduct the National Children’s Study in five counties in North Carolina. Study activities were funded in 2005 for Duplin County, which was selected as one of the seven Vanguard locations where the Study will begin in early 2009. In 2007 and 2008, Burke County, Durham County, and Rockingham County were funded as part of the Wave 1 Study locations. Recruitment of women in these areas is expected to begin mid-2010.
In 2008, Cumberland County was funded as part of Wave 2 Study locations and recruitment of women is expected to begin mid-2011.
