Thank you from OER!

August 8, 2007

The development of the redesigned OER Home Page and associated Web pages required time and effort from many individuals, committees, and NIH offices, as well as valuable input from the extramural grantee community. The overwhelming positive response we have received since launching on August 1 is a tribute to all of your contributions.  The OER Web site is continually evolving and we appreciate your help in making it all possible.

A new section of the OER Web site provides an overview of the grants process, from Grant Application Basics through the Peer Review Process and Award Management. This section was based on input from NIH staff and grantees. In addition to the development of new content areas, a portion of the site utilized numerous resources currently available on Web sites of individual NIH Institutes, Offices & Centers. These resources were invaluable and the OER would like to extend a special thanks to all of the NIH ICs who work diligently to maintain and update these sites and for allowing OER to utilize them in the development of its overview of the NIH grants process. The basis for several OER Web pages in this section of the site and the OER Glossary & Acronym List can be attributed to similar content available in NIAID's "All About Grants" Tutorials and the NIAID Glossary of Funding and Policy Terms. In addition, the OER Grants Process At-A-Glance Chart is modeled after a similar chart produced and by NCI and available in the NCI's Grants Process Book (PDF - 3 MB).

Although the names of every individual, committee, office, and Web site are not named here, please know that the OER and the extramural community appreciate your contributions to this site and to the NIH's Mission.
