caBIG® Delivers Federated Access to Imaging Informatics Toolkit

caBIG® imaging tools were on display at the 94th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), demonstrating the potential for collecting, analyzing, integrating, and disseminating information associated with cancer research and care. A recent article in Health Imaging provides a summary of major projects that are part of this initiative, along with highlights from a presentation by Dr. Eliot Siegel, professor and vice-chair of the department of diagnostic radiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. HHS Releases Report on Personalized Medicine

Friday, November 14th, 2008 Secretary Leavitt and the Department of Health and Human Services released their 2008 Report on Personalized Medicine entitled, “Personalized Health Care: Pioneers, Partnerships, Progress”. This year’s report focuses on a sampling of activities that are now underway in different parts of the private and academic health care sectors toward integrating personalized health care into clinical practice. This includes efforts to employ genomics and other molecular level techniques in clinical care; the use of health information technology in care, including the integration of clinical care with research goals; and the realignment of traditional organizations toward enhanced individualization of treatment and patient-centric approaches.
