cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid™ (caBIG™)
CGEMS seeks to identify common genetic variants, namely single nucleotide polymorphisms, or SNPs, that are associated with increased or decreased risk for prostate and breast cancer. Once the data from this new research is available and validated for quality, it will be publicly available to the entire cancer research community via the National Cancer Institute’s cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid™ (caBIG™).
Making this research available to other scientists and investigators will encourage the development of novel ways to analyze the data and also stimulate new research that can lead to strategies to prevent or cure these types of cancer.
