Hector Lopez, D.Sc.

Dr. Hector Lopez is a Program Director in the Division of Applied Science and Technology. Before coming to NIBIB, he worked for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) and at the NIH Center for Scientific Review (CSR). His research interests include ultrasound imaging and signal detection and processing, and imaging system performance measurements. He received the Doctor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering in 1990 from the George Washington University. At FDA, he worked as a regulatory research officer, conducting research and development of methods and tools for measuring image system performance, particularly for ultrasound systems. He also conducted research to develop innovative ultrasound imaging and measurement methods in the body. At CSR, he worked as a Scientific Review Administrator, with concentration in ultrasound and other imaging systems.
