- How
do you know a patient has a disease not seen before?
- How
do you care for someone with a mysterious illness and protect
yourself as well?
- How
do you investigate the cause of a new disease and find ways
to treat and prevent it?
NIH Historian
Dr. Victoria Harden posed such questions to NIH researchers
and asked them to recall the early days of HIV/AIDS. Their
oral histories tell how government scientists, physicians,
nurses, and administrators responded to the challenge of this
new and deadly disease.
This is an ongoing
project and more transcripts, images, and documents will be
added.
