Mama Didn't Know

4 pound baby on a scale

Mama didn't know that I was born small, because she smoked cigarettes when I was still inside her. She just loved me with all her heart.

Mama didn't know that I would get sick a lot, because my lungs didn't like the chemicals from her cigarette smoke.

Lungs with chemical names from smoke written all through them

Mama singing songs to the baby with love

She sang sweet songs and just loved me with all her heart.

Mama didn't know that even when she didn't smoke, I could still smell the chemicals from her cigarettes in her hair and on her clothes.

Mama smiling, with smoke trailing around her

Mama hugging child with love

She hugged me tight and just loved me with all her heart.
