Microscopy image of heart muscle

This is an optical microscopy image of cardiac muscle used to reconstruct computational models of the mouse heart. These anatomic reconstructions are being used for multi-scale computational models that integrate from molecular networks in the cells to the integrated electrical and mechanical function of the normal and genetically engineered mouse heart. This research is part of the Multi-Scale Modeling Initiative championed by the Interagency Modeling and Analysis Group (IMAG).
