NIH Work/Life Center
The NIH Work/Life Center (WLC) provides resources to help
employees balance the demands of the workplace, career interests, and family
responsibilities.
The WLC offers the following:
Career Counseling. The WLC offers private confidential sessions with professional career counselors. In these sessions employees can explore topics such as
- Self Assessment
- Training
- Career expectations
- Career transition
- Career management
Workshops. Career counselors also conduct small group workshops.
Some topics include
- Preparing Federal Applications
- Communicating Effectively
- Coaching
- Managing Organizational Change
- Assessing Career Interests
Work-Life Resources. Specialists provide information on parenting,
childcare, elder care, and family-friendly work practices (local and
national). Resources include a lending library of audio and videotapes,
books and free brochures.
Computer Resources. Available software includes Quick and Easy
Federal Jobs Kit for creating SF-71, OF-612, and federal resumes; Aztec for
Adult Learning tutorial system for skills development; and Career Points for
career assessment.
