NIH Division of Public Safety

The Division of Public Safety is comprised of three Branches: Crime Prevention, Emergency Management, and the Police. These three branches administer security and protection services including education, training, technical assistance, physical security, hospital security, parking and traffic control, law enforcement, criminal investigations, and all locking hardware in the NIH. The NIH ORS/DPS Police Branch provides police services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • To report a crime in progress, life threatening situations, personal injury traffic accidents or suspicious activities on the NIH campus, dial on a NIH in-house phone:
    • Extension: 911
  • To report a criminal act not in progress, a theft of personal property, a non-injury accident, or to request uniformed police escort 24 hours a day call:
    • Extension: 6-5685
