The Oregon Veterans Program is to provide the maximum level of employment and training opportunities for veterans. The Secretary of Labor, through the Veterans´ Employment and Training Services (VETS), funds programs to meet the employment and training needs of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. Those Veteran Representatives are called Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veterans´ Outreach Program Specialists (DVOP).

Since the time of the Civil War, Veterans of the Armed Forces have been given some degree of preference in appointments to government jobs. Recognizing that sacrifices are made by those serving in the Armed Forces, Congress enacted laws to prevent veterans seeking employment from being penalized because of the time spent in military service.

America's Heroes at Work provides employers and workforce development experts with information and tools for assisting war veterans affected by Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from the Global War on Terror.
