U.S. Rep. John L. Mica (FL-7) will host a meeting for local City of DeBary and Volusia County officials to meet with federal, state and regional representatives to receive local input for the clean-up of the DeBary Bayou adjacent to I-4 and Dirksen Drive in the Deltona and DeBary area.
Representative Mica stated, “It’s important that we not only expand our roads and other transportation infrastructure but that we also clean up our natural areas negatively impacted by growth and development. The DeBary Bayou should be preserved for ours and future generations.”
The once natural stream was polluted with runoff from interstate expansion and local development. Mica is working to develop a plan to clean up the bayou with various agencies including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Florida Department of Transportation, and the St. Johns River Water Management District.
The meeting will take place at the Florence K. Little Town Hall at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16th.
