To expedite the cancer research community's access to key bioinformatics tools, platforms and data, the NCI is working in partnership with cancer centers and other stakeholders  to deploy an integrating biomedical informatics infrastructure: caBIG™ (cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid™). caBIG™ is creating a common, extensible informatics platform that integrates diverse data types and supports interoperable analytic tools in areas including clinical trials management, tissue banks and pathology, imaging, and integrative cancer research.  The current inventory of applications (tools) and documentation, infrastructure and datasets used to support the caBIG™ initiative can be accessed below.  The inventory is updated as new items are released.

Tools
A compendium of applications, software tools, database technologies, and Web-based applications in the areas of: clinical trials management, biospecimens, imaging, genome annotation, proteomics, microarrays, pathways, data analysis and statistical tools, data sharing, infrastructure, vocabularies, and translational research. These tools,  facilitate data collection, analysis and integration. They are based on open-source software and free. Download packages include installation elements and documentation. In many cases training is also offered.

The National Cancer Institute Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT) is pleased to announce that the cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG™) software application bundles, the Life Sciences Distribution (LSD) and the caBIG™ Clinical Trials Suite (CCTS), are now available. These comprehensive sets of software tools are designed to support the biomedical research enterprise.

Search for caBIG Tools by Compatibility Level
caBIG Compatibility includes four levels of maturity: Legacy, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. This search is for tools of a specific compatibility level.

Infrastructure
A compilation and description of key infrastructures underlying the caBIG™ effort, including ontologies, common data elements, and object models. These key infrastructures are applicable to the activities of each Workspace.

Data Resources
Collection of biomedical research data available through the caBIG™ consortium and resources.
