Resources for Parents and Educators

 
The Office of Science Education (OSE) coordinates science education activities at the NIH and develops and sponsors science education projects in house. These programs serve elementary, secondary, and college students and teachers and the public.
 
 
AAAS helps advance science education through a number of programs that focus on school curriculums, resources for educators, public education, scientific career advancement and workforce training.
 
 
The ASEE Engineering K12 Center identifies and gathers in one place the most effective engineering education resources available to the K-12 community.
 
 
The Office of Educational Programs mission is to design, develop, implement, and facilitate workforce development and education initiatives that support the scientific mission at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Department of Energy.
 
 
The mission is to catalyze and support excellence in teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and other core subjects through innovative, research-based instructional strategies and use of novel technologies. CIESE collaborates with K-12 and university educators, researchers, policymakers and educational organizations to develop curriculum materials, conduct professional development programs, and research new methodologies to strengthen STEM education.
 
 
The Center for Science Education (CSE) is housed at Education Development Center, Inc., in Newton, Massachusetts. Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) is an international nonprofit organization, building bridges between research, policy, and practice. EDC's award-winning programs and products, developed in collaboration with partners around the globe, consistently advance learning and healthy development for individuals of all ages.
 
 
CSEP is an electronic book for teaching Computational Science and Engineering. The intended audience are students in science and engineering at the advanced undergraduate level and higher. Tutorials for freely available networking and visualization software are included and have attracted a range of users, including high-school students and people from the commercial sector.
 
 
DiscoverySchool.com is dedicated to making teaching and learning an exciting, rewarding adventure for students, teachers, and parents. To that end we provide innovative teaching materials for teachers, useful and enjoyable resources for students, and smart advice for parents about how to help their kids enjoy learning and excel in school. The site is constantly reviewed for educational relevance by practicing classroom teachers in elementary school, middle school, and high school.
 
 
The mission of the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC) is to identify effective curriculum resources, create high-quality professional development materials, and disseminate useful information and products to improve K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning.
 
 
The National Science Digital Library (NSDL) was created by the National Science Foundation to provide organized access to high quality resources and tools that support innovations in teaching and learning at all levels of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. NSDL is a digital library of exemplary resource collections and services, organized in support of science education at all levels.
 
 
The Science Education Department (SED) of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics develops curricula and materials that reflect current scientific and educational philosophy. SED staff includes education researchers, scientists, teachers, media specialists, and graduate students who collaborate to identify and address the needs of science teachers and students in elementary, secondary, and college science, with an emphasis on grades K–12.
 
 
The SMETE Digital Library is a dynamic online library and portal of services by the SMETE Open Federation for teachers and students. Here you can access a wealth of teaching and learning materials as well as join this expanding community of science, math, engineering and technology explorers of all ages. If you're a student, you'll have access to resources that can help you prepare for a class or exam. If you're a teacher or professor, you can find learning materials you can use in your classroom right away.
 
 
Science News for Kids is a new Web site devoted to science news for children of ages 9 to 13. Our goal is to offer timely items of interest to kids, accompanied by suggestions for hands-on activities, books, articles, Web resources, and other useful materials. Our emphasis is on making the Web site appealing by offering kids opportunities to comment on the subject matter, ask questions of scientists featured in articles, try out mathematical puzzles, and submit their own work for possible Web publication. At the same time, we are interested in offering teachers creative ways of using science news in their classrooms.
