The purpose of this document is to collect, analyze, and define high-level needs and features of the NCI CBIIT caCORE Object Cart Release 1.1. This document focuses on the functionalities proposed by the product stakeholders and target users in order to make it a better product. The use-case and supplementary specifications document will detail how the framework will fulfill these needs.

Vision and Needs

The objective of this release of the Object Cart is to provide a Grid Service interface for the Object Cart product.  

This release will address providing both read and write operations supported by version 1.0 of Object Cart as Grid Service operations.

Each enhancement, modification or new feature is described in detail below.

17412 Enhance the Object Cart to utilize the BDA (automated build and deployment) process and infrastructure.

17413 Create an Object Cart Grid Service replicating the v1.0 Object Cart API operations.  The Object Cart Grid Service will point to the same database schema/instance as the v1.0 Object Service APIs.  Therefore, an application can query the same Object Cart via a Grid Service interface or v1.0 Object Cart API interface.
