Skin Cancer

This systematic review by the Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide) of the effectiveness of population-based interventions to prevent skin cancer by reducing exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation focused on three selected areas::

  1. Setting-specific interventions
  2. Target population-specific interventions; and
  3. Community-wide Interventions

Recommendation outcomes focused on changes in: 1) Improving “covering up” behavior (i.e., wearing protective clothing such as a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and hat); and 2) Increasing shade use or staying out of the sun during peak UV hours.
