Since H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute opened its doors in 1986, and throughout its continued growth it has embraced an interdisciplinary approach to patient care and research. Located on the University of South Florida campus in Tampa, Florida, Moffitt offers 13 clinical programs based on the specific type of cancer, as well as the full complement of related services such as radiation oncology, psychosocial and patient education. Interdisciplinary research programs include Molecular Oncology and Drug Discovery, Immunology and Immunotherapy, Clinical Investigations, Risk Assessment and Epidemiology, and Behavioral Oncology.

Through its integrative medicine program, Moffitt pursues scientific research and offers evidenced-based complementary approaches to patient care and cancer prevention. The Lifetime Cancer Screening and Prevention Center provides the latest in cancer genetics and population based research, and new screening technologies for breast, cervical, colorectal, prostate, lung, ovarian and skin cancer, as well as preventive counseling. During 2005 Moffitt had more than 212,000 outpatient visits and 15,000 new patients.

A National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center, Moffitt is committed to discover, translate and deliver personalized cancer care. Moffitt has partnered with 16 medical center affiliates and 370 affiliate physician members to develop a high-quality affiliate network designed to offer the newest treatment options to patients throughout the state of Florida and beyond.

The focus of the Cancer Center is on “total cancer care” for the individual patients and their families, not just the disease.
