Between 2003 and 2008 an alliance of four federal and national partners joined with county-level public health counterparts from six states to address cervical and breast cancer screening disparities. The Team Up: Cancer Screening Saves Lives (Team Up) program was designed to establish changes for the use of cancer screening services with medically underserved women, and to advance the translation of intervention science into program delivery. This innovative pilot brought together two challenging public health strategies that states agreed to use – the translation of evidence-based approaches to communities and populations, and partnerships among diverse people and organizations. This report describes the scope, research methods, consequences, and interpretations of a pilot case study evaluation of the program.
