Mathematical Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Program Area

Staff Contact

Description

The modeling portion of this program supports mathematical models and computational algorithms with potential clinical or biomedical applications, including multi-scale modeling, modeling at or above the cellular level, and modeling at subcellular level to support technology development in other program areas related to the NIBIB mission. Research includes mathematical, statistical, transport, network, population, mechanical, electrical and electronic models applied to a broad range of biomedical fields.

Dr. Peng coordinates the Interagency Modeling and Analysis Group (IMAG) and the Multiscale Modeling Consortium supported by the Multi-Scale Modeling Initiative (MSM).

The simulation portion of this program supports the development of simulation technology for training and education in clinical practice and biomedical research, and simulation algorithms for understanding and prediction of health and disease.

The analysis portion of this program supports the development of mathematical, statistical and signal processing methods for the analysis of complex biomedical systems, clinical diagnosis and patient monitoring.

Biomedical Computing and Health Informatics (BCHI)
Modeling and Analysis of Biological Systems (MABS)

A complete listing of review groups and study sections can be found at the Center for Scientific Review (http://cms.csr.nih.gov/PeerReviewMeetings/).

Program staff recommend that principal investigators include a cover letter listing areas of scientific expertise needed to review the application and how the expertise should be balanced (please do not include names), or potential study section assignments. Questions may be directed to the program director mentioned above.
