Interdisciplinary Training and Career Development Program
Staff Contact
Richard Baird, Ph.D.
Description
The NIBIB supports a number of training and career development programs across the career continuum for individuals seeking careers in the fields of biomedical imaging and bioengineering. A key aspect of the NIBIB mission is to integrate the physical, quantitative and engineering sciences with the biomedical and life sciences. The NIBIB participates in a number of different individual fellowships (F) and career development (K) mechanisms as well as the NIH Institutional Training Grant program (T32). We also have more specialized programs including the joint NIBIB-NSF Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Summer Institutes (BBSI) for undergraduates and early graduate students and the NIH Bioengineering Summer Internship Program (BESIP). We also participate in a number of NIH programs designed to enhance the diversity of the pool of individuals conducting biomedical research. See the Training Opportunities section for full details.
Relevant Study Sections
All K and T32 applications are reviewed by the NIBIB Special Emphasis Panel (ZEB1)
Fellowship applications are reviewed by panels convened by the Center for Scientific Review (CSR Fellowship Study Sections)
A complete listing of review groups and study sections can be found at the Center for Scientific Review (http://cms.csr.nih.gov/PeerReviewMeetings/).
Program staff recommend that principal investigators include a cover letter listing areas of scientific expertise needed to review the application and how the expertise should be balanced (please do not include names), or potential study section assignments. Questions may be directed to the program director mentioned above.
