Immunogenetics Program
The Immunogenetics Program was established to develop technologies that will help the understanding of human diseases related to malfunction of the immune system. This entails the analysis of human polymorphism(s) which represents the small differences in the genetic code of each individual responsible for different behavior of his/her cells in response to various types of stimulation. In particular the immune system is very susceptible to these differences and variations among various individuals have been implicated as a reason for different outcomes of organ transplantation, or variable susceptibility of autoimmune diseases. In addition, individual variability could be responsible to susceptibility to infectious diseases like HIV or differences in the immune responsiveness of different cancers to immune therapy.

Sections of the Immunogenetics Program

Functional Genomics unit

Human Polymorphism Detection unit

Proteomics unit

Immune Monitoring unit

Innate/adaptive immune response unit

T cell genetic and functional characterization unit
