Not having a FreeBSD system, I couldn't test this function to see if it would compile thereon. The fix is simple:
in line 2841 of mri_dicom_hdr.h, add the string
"&& !defined(FreeBSD)"
(without the quotes) to the end of the line.
Or re-fetch the source code and try again, since I just put this change into the distribution.
