Users of this module will gain a good understanding of extent of disease and cancer staging in general.

Instructional Objectives

After completing the content of the module, the user of this module will be able to:

1. define the concept of staging;
2. name the staging sources covered in this learning module and describe briefly the procedures of these sources;
3. name the major staging systems discussed in the module and describe the differences among them;
4. name some of the common site-specific staging schemes and relate their purposes, criteria, and categories; and
5. explain briefly why staging schemes change.
