EST analysis of gene expression in the mouse organ of Corti at the onset of hearing
In order to study the transcriptional repertoire of the organ of Corti during the onset of hearing, a database of expressed sequence tags (EST) is being generated from in depth sequencing of a non-amplified mouse organ of Corti cDNA library. Inserts of cDNA clones were sequenced, analyzed and clustered using specially written software (NEIBank, http://neibank.nei.nih.gov). A preliminary collection of ESTs with description and human chromosomal location is presented as a web-based resource for public access. A paper with detailed description of the library and detailed analysis of the repertoire of genes expressed will soon be made available (Kachar et al., in preparation).

View Organ of Corti library comparison table: UniGene identifiers were used to compare the OC library with several other quantitative libraries. The values express the frequency of gene expression. Reference UniGene library identifiers are shown preceding the tissue from which the library was made.
