Bioinformatics Summit
Feb 16-17, 2006
Marriott Bethesda North Conference Center
Brookside Room
Background
In the genomic era, both basic and clinical research relies heavily on database-supported computational-assisted bioinformatics support. At the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation (DAIT), we fund many research programs and clinical studies that have a variety of bioinformatics components.
The main goals of this workshop are to:
- Identify areas of potential collaboration, synergy and reusable resources within the different DAIT funded bioinformatics and data management programs
- Identify ways to bridge the gaps between clinical and mechanistic data exchange
- Identify issues of interoperability between projects and programs
- Facilitate DAIT's clinical and basic science research agendas
- Identify workgroups for further standards development among the different DAIT programs
