Rep. Watson to Distribute 1000 Backpacks

Washington, DC—Congresswoman Diane E. Watson is honored to present 1000 Backpacks to Tom Bradley  Elementary School students.  The backpacks, filled with school supplies, were donated by the Office Depot Foundation.

Tom Bradley Environmental Science and Humanities Charter Magnet School originally known as 38th Street School has grown from humble beginnings.  Since its inception in 1926, this school has had an opulent history of preparing students for their careers.  Tom Bradley Elementary educates and mentors aspiring minds to excel academically. It is only appropriate that a school investing in leaders and great citizens be named in honor of former Mayor, Tom Bradley, a man who has dedicated his time to the community.  Dr.Genevieve Shepherd is principal of the school.

This is the Office Depot Foundation’s 7th year giving backpacks to students through the national backpack program.  The Foundation is proud to provide these education materials to encourage student success.  To date more than one million backpacks have been donated to deserving students.
