||||
Washington, DC—San Gabriel Section Founder, Dr. Dorothy Shepherd presented Representative Diane E. Watson with the NCNW Bethune Recognition Award. Rep. Watson served as the keynote speaker at a luncheon, held Saturday, October 27, at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry, CA. This year’s luncheon theme was "Embrace the Vision, Capture the Future." Congresswoman Watson applauded the National Council of Negro Women for their dedication to empowering women of all nationalities. Since 1935, the National Council of Negro Women has become a symbol of social justice and human rights. Rep. Watson honored the women of the NCNW for dedicating themselves to equal rights and opportunities. Watson also recognized women of the past and present who reached extraordinary goals. The event highlighted women such as founder Mary McLeod Bethune and Congressional Gold Medal recipient, Dr. Dorothy Height. Congresswoman Watson and the NCNW share the same spirit of unifying people to create change.
