Office of Technology Transfer and Development

Technology Transfer Service Center

NHLBI Office of Technology Transfer and Development (OTTAD) as a Technology Transfer Competitive Service Center (CSC)

The Competitive Service Center (CSC) concept was conceived to enable NIH Institute's to more effectively and efficiently obtain the services they require in the backdrop of future reduction in staffing levels at the NIH. CSC facilitates personnel savings generally associated with centralization of functions, yet allows the Institute to retain control over the services they are receiving. The CSC concept is especially useful to NIH Institutes with needs in technology transfer that do not want to expend their resources on an internal office. CSC generally provides the ICs with a wider range of choices of services than they would be able to support on their own.

OTTAD provides its clients with a full range of services as discussed below. These services include: negotiation of all types of technology transfer-related agreements [e .g. Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs) and other miscellaneous agreements], technology promotion, as well as general oversight of our client ICs intellectual property development and protection.

OTTAD's current client base includes:
