Subject: staining

Dear All I have had a request for information on ways to stain a block of tissue. This researcher has a thumb joint and has done MRM and MCT on it already. What they want to do next is cut and image it a la Visible Human which involved milling and polishing. They wanted to avoid traditional sectioning as this would introduce warping and distortion of the tissue. Does anyone know of a way the tissue types in this block (cartilage, bone, muscle, etc.) can be enhanced prior to digital imaging?
