Corporations

This Division is responsible for filing all documents relating to business formation. Documents filed with the Division concern all domestic and foreign corporations, for profit and nonprofit, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and limited liability partnerships, among others. The Division carries out these functions under the authority granted to it by § 178 of the Mississippi Constitution of 1890; §§ 79-4-101.01 through 79-4-17.04; §§ 79-11-101 through 79-11-529; §§ 79-4-101 through 79-14-1107; and §§ 79-29-101 through 79-29-1204 Miss. Code Ann. (1972).

Here, the Secretary of State approves and files numerous documents, including service of process, athlete agent registrations, registered agents under the state pesticide law, correspondence school permits, and filing statements of monies paid pursuant to the Alcohol Beverage Control Law.
