| 4-Year vs. 8-Year Fees |
|
Prior to October 1, 2004, some applicants were still eligible for a four year license at the time of renewal. If you choose to upgrade your valid driver license and the validity period was four years you will pay the four year fee unless you are eligible to renew or do the upgrade at renewal. The four year fee is not based on the amount of time left until expiration. If your last issuance had a validity period of eight years and you upgrade your license you will be required to pay the eight year fee regardless of the amount of time left before expiration.
Regular Class C (non-commercial) Instruction Permits are valid for two years from the date of issuance. The CDL Instruction Permit and Motorcycle Instruction Permits are valid for one year from the date of issuance. Instruction permits are non-renewable.
