Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi spent the Veterans Day holiday at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. During her visit she received a research briefing from VA researchers Lynn Pulliam, MS, PhD, Michael Weiner, MD, and Paul Volberding, MD.  Following the briefing she toured the Medical Center’s Nursing Home Care Unit and met with patients and staff.

At a press conference following her visit to the San Francisco VA Medical Center’s Nursing Home Care Unit, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi praised the care provided to veterans and told the crowd, “In battle it is said ‘no soldier will be left behind,’ and I am here to tell you today that we will leave no ‘veteran’ behind.”

During her tour of the San Francisco VA Medical Center’s Nursing Home Care Unit, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi spent a view moments with veteran Don Ruth.  Mr. Ruth served on the USS Hancock from 1968-1970.

Ninety-five year old World War II veteran John Alexander welcomed Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi to the San Francisco VA Medical Center’s Nursing Home Care Unit and served as her official escort.
