Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel:
“The creation of Israel stands out as one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century. Today, on the 60th anniversary of this founding, we recognize that Israel stands as a symbol of hope for people around the world. We pay tribute to the many people, who with pioneering spirits, brave determination, and deep commitment, made the modern state of Israel a reality.
“On the 60th anniversary of Israel’s founding, the entire Congress reaffirms our special friendship and our commitment to a safe and secure Israel, living in peace with her neighbors.”
