Comments The gastroenteritis caused by enterotoxigenic strains of E. coli (ETEC) is similar to cholera. Low-grade fever may be present or absent. Children in developing countries become immune to ETEC, but travelers to these countries become ill after consuming contaminated food or water. [CCDM, p. 164-6]
Latency/Incubation Usually 1-3 days, but may be as short as 10-12 hours;
