Getting Connected with caBIG

As part of the Enterprise Phase of the caBIG™ initiative, a variety of technical, product, service and training programs known as “Getting Connected with caBIG™” are being developed to facilitate the deployment of caBIG™-compatible tools and systems among a broader segment of the cancer research community. To expedite the process, key caBIG™ resources are being grouped, tested and packaged together in bundles designed to help support and streamline clinical trials, imaging, tissue banking, and integrative cancer research, and to provide the materials needed to join the secure caBIG™ data-sharing framework. At present, two software bundles and one policy and procedures bundle are being prepared for release in 2008. Many of the individual components are already available, including a self-assessment tool that enables an organization to evaluate its own needs and interests.

For more information, visit the Getting Connected with caBIG™ pages on the web site at https://cabig.nci.nih.gov/getting_connected/. A “Frequently Asked Questions” text is available at https://cabig.nci.nih.gov/getting_connected/caBIG_Connected_FAQ.pdf.

We hope many organizations will take advantage of these resources. This is an important “next step” in establishing a broad foundation of connectivity.
