The caBIG™ tools inventory includes over 40 software tools, database technologies, and Web-based applications in the areas of: clinical trials management, biospecimens, imaging, genome annotation, proteomics, microarrays, pathways, data analysis and statistical tools, data sharing, infrastructure, vocabularies, and translational research. They are based on open-source software and free. Download packages include installation elements and documentation. In many cases training is also offered.  The most recent releases are suites of interoperable tools for clinical trials management and life sciences, featured below.   The complete listing of tools can be viewed alphabetically or by domain or other key attributes.

Life Cycle Demo - (Adobe Flash) audio over slides. Please turn on speakers. This demo uses a translational medicine example to show how several caBIG™ tools and datasets can be used together to support scientific and clinical research activities.  The tools, resources, and datasets used in the example are all actual production systems.

Clinical Trials Compatibility Framework

The caBIG™ Clinical Trials Compatibility Framework facilitates electronic clinical research data management and enables the comprehensive sharing and integration of information. Specifically, it contains the caBIG™ Clinical Trials Suite, which supports the management of study participant information through the clinical trial lifecycle. The Framework also helps connect software tools to existing data management systems and to the caBIG™ infrastructure. Learn more.

Life Sciences Distribution

The tools brought together in the caBIG® Life Sciences Distribution facilitate the discovery of the next generation of cancer diagnostics and therapeutics to realize the vision of Molecular, or Personalized, Medicine. These tools support a variety of capabilities from tracking and managing biospecimens, to analyzing and integrating microarray data. Together, they enable cancer researchers to more easily integrate, analyze, and share data from many different sources. Learn more.

Life Sciences Distribution capabilities and tools include:

Data Sharing & Security Framework

The Data Sharing and Security Framework facilitates appropriate data sharing between and among organizations by addressing legal, regulatory, policy, proprietary, and contractual barriers to data exchange. When fully developed, the Data Sharing and Security Framework will consist of policies, processes, model agreements, model data sharing plans, and other materials. Together, these documents will cover issues such as user authentication credentials, security standards for different data types, and suggestions on how to share data subject to HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, as well as other applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
