The Greenwich Chapter teaches our community how to prepare for emergency situations. A disaster can strike quickly and without warning, forcing you to evacuate your neighborhood, workplace or school - or confine you to your home. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but cannot reach everyone right away.
Your Red Cross gives Community Disaster Education presentations at the Chapter and in the community to local businesses, organizations, youth community service clubs, schools and scout troops. Please contact Jessica Chapman, Director of Preparedness & Community Outreach at 203-869-8444, ext.119 or email for information and scheduling.
Community Disaster Education (CDE) and Senior CDE
Community Disaster Education (CDE) helps the Greenwich community be aware of the natural and human-caused hazards that threaten our area, and educates our community members to better protect themselves, their family and their property. In cooperation with the Greenwich Department of Health, we offer free CDE classes at the Chapter, in businesses, through Greenwich Continuing Ed and at community organizations in our area. Classes are approximately 60 minutes, including time for questions; light refreshments are served. Information and materials about preparing for potential disasters that can affect this area are disseminated during the class and throughout the year at local fairs and events.
