"On Opposition to H.R. 2764, 'Omnibus' Appropriations Measure"

"I opposed the 3,500 page omnibus spending measure, which was distributed to members of Congress for review on the very day that it came to a vote.  While this bill includes funding for numerous departments, agencies, and programs, it failed to provide funding for our troops serving in Iraq.  These men and women are implementing a counter-insurgency strategy that has weakened al Qaeda and improved security significantly.  We must fund our troops in Iraq immediately and with no strings attached."
