NIH Autism Research Activities
NIH-sponsored research on autism spectrum disorders covers domains including interventions, diagnosis, genetics, neurobiology, and services. In addition to individual grants for research projects, NIH sponsors training, small grants, career support, and program projects that involve autism research. NIH has also developed several networks of autism research centers. The following is a summary of ongoing research and activities across the NIH:
- FY 2007 NIH Autism Spectrum Disorder Research Portfolio
- The NIH Autism Coordinating Committee (NIH/ACC) was formed in 1997 to enhance the quality, pace and coordination of efforts at the NIH to find a cure for autism.
- There are several network activities in autism research sponsored by different Institutes including:
- Autism Centers of Excellence (ACE) - Awarded in 2007 and 2008.
