House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Bob Filner (D-CA)
released the following statement today on the passage of a
Democratic budget resolution by the House Budget Committee:
Washington, D.C. –“The Democratic budget resolution passed
by the House Budget Committee begins to correct years of
serious shortfalls that have existed for our veterans,” said
Chairman Filner. “The budget resolution restores a number of
proposed cuts by President Bush and adds $6.6 billion over
2007 levels for veterans’ health care. Mental health and
post-traumatic stress disorder are serious problems facing
our returning service members and an ongoing issue facing
veterans from previous conflicts. We must fully fund the
health care needs of our veterans and I applaud Chairman
Spratt for his leadership in addressing these issues.”
