For over 20 years, Wilson Information Services Corporation (WISCO) has been making a difference for its customers, providing answers to questions. Founded in 1979, WISCO is a small, woman-owned business headquartered in New Market, Maryland, with offices also located in Frederick, Maryland. The company began as a sole proprietorship consulting practice in the Los Angeles area, with a client base consisting primarily of small hospitals. Initially, its services included literature searching, design of library facilities and creation of building programs, setting up core collections, and planning library staff training and organizational programs for these institutions. WISCO moved to the East Coast in late 1980 and expanded its operations to include other services such as appraising private collections, manuscript proofing, legal and market research, scientific test result illustration, searching for out-of-print books, and retrieving general information for use by the public. Currently, WISCO operates the Scientific Library at NCI-Frederick under a contract with the National Cancer Institute, capitalizing on its years of experience in helping libraries nationwide.
