    Register Your Organization in iEdison
  1. From the Welcome to iEdison page, select Register Institution to use iEdison to access the Request to Register iEdison Organization page.
  2. Enter the registration request information, noting the following:
    • Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • The Organization DUNS number is optional. However, all entered values must pass a system validation check.
    • Address information is not required. However, if you supply one field, all fields with a carat (^) are required.
    • Providing any federal funding agreement number that the grantee or contractor organization has received at anytime in the past will facilitate making a positive identification of the grantee or contractor organization.
    • The username has a 6-character minimum and a 20-character maximum. This is a unique name that must be assigned to one and only one user.
    • The password has a 6-character minimum and a 20-character maximum.
    • The username and password fields are case sensitive.
  3. Click Submit to enter the registration information. The Request to Register iEdison Organization - Step 2 page is displayed.
  4. Click Continue to access the Interagency Edison Registration Form.
    Note: You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to display the printable version.
  5. Print the Interagency Edison Registration Form and then close the window.
  6. Click Return to iEdison Home Page. The Request to Register iEdison Organization - Confirmation page is displayed.
  7. Click Return to iEdison Home Page. The Welcome to iEdison page is displayed.
  Field Definitions - Grantee/Contractor Organization Information
Grantee/Contractor Organization Name

The full name of the Extramural Grantee or Contractor Organization.

Organization DUNS The Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number, provided by Dun & Bradstreet, is a nine-digit number that uniquely identifies a business entity. Entry of a DUNS number is optional; however, all entered values must pass a system validation check.

Note: Entry of a DUNS number is not valid for federal iEdison User Profiles or the NIH iEdison Accounts Administrator.

Organization Type

The organization type of the Extramural Grantee or Contractor Organization. Select the most appropriate type from the list (see below for details).

Small Business - Grantee or contractor eligible to receive SBIR or STTR grant/contract awards.
Large Business - For-profit organization that does not qualify for SBIR or STTR grant or contract awards. These organizations are typically recipients of government contracts.
Non-Profit - Grantee or contractor organizations that hold not-for-profit status according to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
Individual - Individual inventor to whom invention rights have been assigned.
Other - Any grantee or contractor organization that does not fit into the other specified types. Selection of this option must be accompanied by a description (see following field).

If the Organization Type = Other, please provide an appropriate description of the grantee or contractor organization's type.

The address of the Office of Technology Transfer or equivalent at the Extramural Organization. The address is composed of four street address lines, city, state, zip, and country.

Note: Address information is not required. However, if any address information is supplied, all fields with a ^ next to them become required. This includes: Address Line 1, City, State, Zip, and Country.

OTT Phone

The phone number of the Office of Technology Transfer or equivalent at the Extramural Organization.

The format of this field is: (123) 456-7890 in countries using the North American Numbering Plan, including the U.S., Canada, and most of the Caribbean. Other countries use the country code, followed by the city code and number (e.g., +44 023422).

OTT Fax

The fax number of the Office of Technology Transfer or equivalent at the Extramural Organization.

Funding Agreement Number

The funding agreement number is composed of the agency code and the grant or contract number for a supporting agency that has contributed to the conception or first actual reduction to practice of the invention.

Awarding Federal Agency

The federal government agency from which the grantee or contractor has received a funding agreement award used in the conception or first actual reduction to practice of the invention. Select the most appropriate acronym from the list (see below for details).

The prefix to the name of the Extramural Technology Transfer Administrator.

First Name

The first name of the Extramural Technology Transfer Administrator.

Middle Name The middle name or initial of the Extramural Technology Transfer Administrator.
Last Name The last name of the Extramural Technology Transfer Administrator.

The username must be unique within the iEdison system. If the username requested already occurs in the iEdison system, a different username will be required.

Note: The username is case sensitive. Any capital letters in the username will have to be entered by the account user when logging in to the iEdison system.

Requested Password

The password requested for the Extramural Technology Transfer Administrator account. The password must be between 6 and 20 characters and may be any combination of letters and numbers.
