The following sites have come to our attention through various sources;

U.S. Government

  • CBDNet - Commerce Business Daily database lists notices of proposed government procurement actions, contract awards, sales of government property, and other procurement information.

  • CDC Wonder - CDC site designed to make locating information at CDC easier. Once you reach the site, register for a free account number and password. CDC's numeric databases include statistics on mortality, AIDS, and cancer. Text databases include CDC Prevention Guidelines, and issues of Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report dating back to 1982.

  • Centers for Disease Control (CDC) - Includes CDC epidemiology and statistical information, Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report and Emerging Infectious Diseases.

  • CRISP System - CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) System is a biomedical database containing information on research ventures (primarily extramural) supported by the USPHS. Also contains information on intramural research programs of the NIH and FDA.

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

  • Environmental Protection Agency Where You Live - search by zip code with 4 databases; Envirofacts; EnviroMapper; Surf Your Watershed; and UV Index. Scorecard is a statistical site from Environmental Defense, a not-for-profit environmental advocacy organization.

  • Federal R & D Project Summaries - From NSF, DOE, NIH, EPA, USDA, SBA, a searchable portal to over 750,000 Federal research projects.

  • FedLaw - From a General Services Administration study, a collection of links to legal sites on the Web designed for use by Federal lawyers and other employees.

  • FedStats - provides statistics and information produced by over 70 federal government agencies.

  • FedWorld - from NTIS, offers access to tax forms and publications from the IRS, White House Documents, and selected documents from other government agencies.

  • Food & Drug Administration (FDA) - FDA News; Animal Drugs; Human Drugs; Biologics (blood products, vaccines, biotechnology derived products, etc.); Cosmetics; Food; Toxicology; Medical Devices; Imports.

  • Forms.GOV - a catalog of federal agency forms.

  • GAO: Decisions of the Comptroller General of the U.S.

  • GOV.Research_Center - from NTIS and NISC, a subscription service providing a single access point to government technology information.

  • GPO Access - free access to Congressional Record; Federal Register; Code of Federal Regulations; Congressional Bills; Congressional Directory; Government Manual; Economic Indicators; GAO Reports; History of Bills; Public Laws; U.S. Code; Unified Agenda; and other government documents on the same day of publication.

  • GrayLIT Network - portal to Federal gray literature, with information on over 100,000 full-text reports located at DOE, DOD, EPA & NASA. Not supported after 10/31/07.

  • Homeland Security Web Portal - links to resources regarding threats and protection, emergencies and disasters and more.

  • International Visitors Office - from the National Academies of Science, provides information related to obtaining visas with links to related sites.

  • National Institutes of Health

  • Partners in Information for the Public Health Workforce - collaboration of agencies dedicated to helping the public health workforce find and use information effectively to improve and protect the public's health.

  • Public Health Infrastructure Resource Center (PHIRC) - from the Public Health Foundation (PHF), a searchable gateway to information about the infrastructure of the public health systems.

  • Regulations.gov - find, review, and submit comments on proposed Federal regulations published in the Federal Register.

  • Rural Assistance Center (RAC) - federally-funded, established as a free rural health and human services information portal to help rural communities access programs, funding and research.

  • Science.gov - a gateway to reliable information from an alliance of 14 scientific and technical information organizations from 10 major science agencies.

  • Thomas-Legislative Information on the Internet - primary gateway to legislative information. Locate bills proposed for adoption into law; search by keyword or bill number.

  • USA.gov - a primary portal to government information on the Web, with topics including business and economy, product recalls, passport information, legislation and regulations, grants, benefits and science and technology.

  • U.S. Government Manual - official handbook of the Federal Government, providing comprehensive information on the agencies of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches.

State Government

  • Maryland Agency Regulations (COMAR)

  • Maryland Appellate Court Opinions

  • Maryland State Law Library - resource for Maryland Law with links to federal legal sites and documents.

  • People's Law Library - Maryland's Peoples Law Library (PLL) is a legal information and self-help website maintained by the Maryland State Law Library, providing information on Maryland and Federal law affecting low- and moderate-income Marylanders and their families.

  • SAILOR - Maryland's Public Information Network; includes links to Maryland Codes/Statutes & Regulations as well as links to municipal codes and charters.

  • State and County Quick Facts - source of demographic data from summary profiles showing frequently requested data from various Census Bureau programs. Profiles available at the national, state, and county level with links to more detailed census resources.
