Allergic and photoallergic contact dermatitis reported in pharmaceutical, healthcare, and animal care workers; [Kanerva, p. 1138] Can cause contact urticaria; [Kanerva 2004, p. 102] As an oral medication, chlorpromazine is used to treat schizophrenia. Many side effects have been reported after ingestion of therapeutic doses, including drug-induced hepatitis.
