Film Series: Eyes on the Prize

Location: Pickford Theatre, Madison Building
This year’s film series, sponsored jointly by the Law Library and Tufts University, will focus on Civil Rights Law. The first film of the series will feature the documentary "Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Movement 1954 – 1985" which aired as a presentation of the "American Experience" series on PBS. Narrated by civil rights activist Julian Bond, the series won critical acclaim and received numerous awards including an Emmy, Peabody, International Documentary Award and a Television Critics Association Award.
The program is free and open to the public, though seating is limited and advance reservations are required. The film screening begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a panel discussion and reception. For more information or to make a reservation, please contact Alisa Carrel at acar@loc.gov.
The remaining films in the series include "Boomtown," a documentary on several Suquamish entrepreneurs during fireworks season, to be screened on January 30, and "Of Civil Wrongs and Rights: The Fred Korematsu Story" documenting the landmark Supreme Court case on the forced internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, to be screened on April 2.
