  • Harvard AIDS Institute (HAI) - resources about HAIs' programs and initiatives. HAI is dedicated to promoting research, education and leadership to end the AIDS epidemic.

  • HIVInSite - from the Univ. of California San Francisco, information on HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and policy.

  • International AIDS Society-USA - IAS-USA is a network of experienced HIV/AIDS experts, recognized for high-quality, independent educational programs including CME Courses, and development of Treatment Guidelines.

  • Alzheimer's Disease Education & Referral Center (ADEAR) - searchable clinical trials database of compounds under study for treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), developed cooperatively with the U.S. FDA.

  • Cancer Clinical Trials - from Univ. of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Network.

  • CenterWatch - Clinical Trials Listing Service with resources for patients and professionals.

  • Clinical Trials - National Cancer Institute - clinical cancer trials.

  • ClinicalTrials.gov - from NIH, a registry of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the U.S. and around the world.

  • The Cochrane Library - Cochrane Collaboration produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions. The Clinical Trials link is in the section under 'Browse' / 'Other Resources'. (NIH/NCIF).

Consumer Health

  • Canadian Health Network (CHN) - consumer health information in English and French, research reports, and policy documents on health promotion and disease prevention with special resources for and about the North American Indian and Inuit, and more.This network of health information providers includes the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada and national and provincial/territorial non-profit organizations, as well as universities, hospitals, libraries and community organizations.

  • CARDS (Computer Access to Research on Dietary Supplements - database of federally funded research projects pertaining to dietary supplements funded by the Institutes and Centers of the NIH.

  • Essential Health Links - gateway to over 600 selected web sites for health professionals, medical library communities, publishers, and NGOs in developing countries.

  • Center for Health Information (CHI) - located in the Scientific Library, consumer health information for NCI-Frederick employees. Provided by NCI-Frederick's Occupational Health Services and the Scientific Library, locate free pamphlets on a variety of diseases and conditions, as well as health-related books and videos available for loan.

  • Herbs, Botanicals & Other Products - from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, objective information for oncologists and healthcare professionals, including a clinical summary for each agent and details about constituents, adverse effects, interactions, and potential benefits or problems. Consumer summaries also available.

  • Genetics Home Reference - from NLM, answers to genetics questions.

  • Index of Food and Nutrition Internet Resources - from the NAL Food and Nutrition Information Center

  • Media/Materials Clearinghouse - from the JHU Center for Communication Programs site.

  • HSLS Health Information for the Consumer - from the Univ. of Pittsburgh, Health Sciences Library System (HSLS), resources written in less technical language for patients and families. Used as a teaching tool for the Health Information for the Public project funded by NLM.

  • International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS)- database of published, international, scientific literature on dietary supplements, including vitamins, minerals, and botanicals. Produced by the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) at NIH and NAL to assist locating credible, scientific information on dietary supplements.

  • Mayo Clinic.com

  • MEDLINEplus - free consumer health database with drug and disease information from NLM.

  • Milestones in U.S. Food and Drug Law History - a description of milestones in the history of food and drug regulation in the U.S. from 1820-1998.

  • NIH Health Information - informataion on diseases under investigation by NIH or NIH-supported scientists, major NIH research areas, and important health-related topics.

  • NIH Senior Health Site - talking site with formats and topics tailored to the needs of older people from NIA and NLM.

  • Self-Help Group Sourcebook Online

  • Tox Town - From the National Library of Medicine (NLM), an animated, interactive tool for learning what toxic substances and environmental risks you may encounter in everday life.
