Reminder to South System Tape OwnersAvoid a $50 Per Tape Charge. Move Your Tapes by November 1, 2004
Don't forgetif you still own any South system tapes you must do something about them by November 1, 2004. Your options are:
| request that the tape be moved to Titan |
| purchase the tape (for removal from the NIH Computer Center) |
| release the tape (all data on the tape will be lost) |
What To Do
The following procedures can be found on the Titan web page under the Mainframe headingclick on "Utilities."
To either move a tape to Titan or release a tapeuse Web Tape
To purchase a tapeuse Export South Tape
To see information about these tapes (e.g., data set name, date created)use Web Tape
After November 1
After November 1, 2004, tapes remaining in the South system tape library will be mailed to the owner and the appropriate account charged. If by November 1st you have indicated through Web Tape that you want to move your tape(s) they will not be charged, even if they have not yet moved. CIT is working hard to keep up with the large number of tape move requests that have come in at the last minute.
