Titan Use of ONAMES Servers to Be Discontinued on January 22, 2007
Because Oracle Corporation no longer supports the Oracle Names (ONAMES) servers beyond Version 9, the Titan DBAs will delete the ONAMES references from NIH.SQLNET.ORA and NIH.SQLNET.ORA.ASO on January 22, 2007.
ONAMES servers are used by some customers to connect from Titan to their Oracle databases, and these customers will now need to create their own TNSNAMES files that define connections from Titan to their Oracle databases.
What to do
If you use Titan to connect to an Oracle database, you must create a TNSNAMES file before January 22, 2007. Include a reference to your TNSNAMES file in any job or interactive session that connects from Titan to an Oracle database.
For instructions on creating and using a TNSNAMES file, please visit the Oracle Facilities Web site.
