Position Description: Two positions are available to study the mechanisms of novel DNA base modification, recombination, and chromatin-based gene silencing in the mating-type region of fission yeast. Another project is to map the hypothesized Rght gene causing humans to prefer right over left hand use. Another one is for determining the mechanism of biased segregation of DNA chains in mouse cell divisions. Research projects involve molecular genetics with yeast, standard techniques for mapping molecular markers in human DNA samples, and mouse cell tissue culture.
Experience Required: Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics and human mapping techniques.
