A primary effort of the CCR COP is the development of a “biological reagent kit” that will continue to enhance the transfer of clinical and biological information from dog trials to human trials.

Biospecimen Repository: The COP Biospecimen Repository will serve as a joint repository for two of the Comparative Oncology Program’s initiatives, the Comparative Oncology Trial Consortium (COTC) and the Canine Comparative Oncology Genomics Consortium (CCOGC).

Canine Tissue Microarrays: In collaboration with the NCI Tissue Array Project (TARP), canine tissue microarrays have been developed and effectively used.

Antibody Validation Project: Several companies have provided antibodies from their phosphospecific antibody catalogs to determine cross reactivity with canine tissues. Work has begun to characterize these antibodies in canine tissues.

Canine Oligonucleotide Microarray: The development of microarray technologies for use in canine samples is essential to the COP efforts in model characterization and for determining future clinical trial biological endpoints.

Serum Proteomics for Canine Samples: The optimal conditions for serum proteomic analysis of dog samples have been completed in collaboration with the Biomedical Proteomics Program.

Canine Comparative Oncology Genomics Consortium (CCOGC): A multidisciplinary consortium of scientific and clinical leaders from both human and veterinary oncology has initiated collaborative efforts that will leverage the opportunities provided by the canine genome sequence {link to canine genome sequence] completion and accelerate the integration of veterinary oncology into the broader field of cancer research
